The China BlueStar Changsha Design and Research Institute was founded in 1978 as a research, surveying, design, and supervisory organization under the (then) Ministry of Chemical Industry. It has grade A certification in many areas such as the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries (chemical engineering, mines), construction engineering, municipal projects and sanitation, environmental engineering (waste disposal), surveying, and engineering consultation, and grade B certification in petroleum, medicines, metallurgy, gas, urban and rural planning and environmental engineering (water pollution, air pollution). It also has design qualifications for A2 pressure vessel and for GA, GB, and GC pressure pipes.
The institute can do surveys, design work, supervisory work, consultation and EPC contracting on mid-size to large mine, chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, construction, municipal development, and environmental protection projects. Its products are sold across China, and in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Canada, and Laos and it has partnerships with the institutions in the United States, Australia, Chili, and Israel.
It has strengths in technical development and has its own technological developments and intellectual property rights and more than 40 patents. It also occupies a leading position in China in the integrated utilization of potassium resources and has even made progress at the global level. It occupies an advanced place in China in the exploitation of phosphate resources and pyrite and in the management of tailing ponds. It has its own brands in the construction, petroleum, mining, and tunnel industries and is the home of the National Chemical Solution Mining Engineering Center.
